The Night Emerald Keffiyeh conjures the image of a jewel gleaming in darkness — rich emerald-green embroidery blazing against a deep black ground, as vivid as the olive groves of Palestine catching the light of a full moon. In Bedouin tradition, black represents the vast desert night that sheltered travellers and concealed the steps of those who moved in secret; green, by contrast, speaks of the olive tree’s enduring leaf, the eternal renewal of the land. Net and zigzag motifs spread across the cloth like fishermen’s webs and olive branches, symbols of communal solidarity and a life tied to the sea and the soil. Dense emerald fringe wraps every edge — a luxuriant flourish that calls to mind the trailing vines of the Hebron hills. Woven at the Hirbawi factory in Hebron using the inherited cross-weave technique, the double-layer cloth measures 120×120 cm (47×47 inches) and is crafted from 85% cotton and 15% polyester at 170 g/m². It folds into any shape to reveal either side — a canvas of black night or a garden of living green — and wears effortlessly as a shawl, headwrap, or scarf.
